Dressmaking Workshops for beginners and those wishing to improve their skills.  Choose a specific garment, techniques to build a sample portfolio, an evening class, half day or sewing school.

If there is something you would like to learn but it is not shown or you can't make the date please do call and I will try to work around you.

Workshops at the Midhurst Sewing Room aim to inspire and improve skills while working in a relaxed atmosphere with likeminded students.

The Sewing Room is fully equipped with Janome Sewing Machines and Overlockers as well as all the tools you need to complete your project.  You are very welcome to bring your own machine and sewing box if you wish.,

    Make Your Own Knickers - 17th December 2019

    Perfect for yourself or for presents making knickers is a fun workshop.  Learn how to alter a pattern, choose a style, choose your fabrics and trims then learn to assemble your knickers and attach elastic and lace.  

    What You Need To Bring : The Sewing Room is fully equipped with Janome Sewing Machines and Overlockers as well as all the tools you need to complete your project.  You are very welcome to bring your own machine and sewing box if you wish.

    Velvet Palazzo Pants - 18th December 2019 FULLY BOOKED

    A pair of wide leg velvet trousers is perfect for the season, this pattern has no side seams so perfect for this luxurious fabric.  Lots of tips on how to handle this tricky fabric and take home a glamorous pair for trousers.

    The cost of the pattern is included int he workshop price.

    What You Need To Bring : The Sewing Room is fully equipped with Janome Sewing Machines and Overlockers as well as all the tools you need to complete your project.  You are very welcome to bring your own machine and sewing box if you wish.

    Materials Needed :  To make the Palazzo Pants you will need 2.6m of 150cm wide velvet, an 18cm invisible zip, 60cm of woven fusible interfacing and matching thread.

    Bring along your own materials or purchase from Bloomsbury Square Fabrics which is next to the Sewing Room.     The Sample Portfolio workshops allow you to build up a file of techniques to refer to when ever you need them. When you attend the first workshop you will receive a file to start building your porfolio then add to it on each workshop.     Learn all the skills needed to make a traditional corset many of which can be transferred in to making boned bodices for dresses and tops.

    Using traditional materials, steel  bones, spiral wires, eyelets and a busk you will create your waistshaping corset.

    If your New Year Resolution is to get fit then why not make yourself something lovely to work out in.

    On this workshop you will be able to make a pair of yoga/workout trousers or leggings and a simple top in knit fabric - choose to construct them on the overlocker or the sewing machine and learn to work with stretch fabrics and make your perfect outfit to get fit in

    The cost of the Pattern is included in the workshop price.
