  • Summer Sewing

Lots has happened since I last wrote - firstly a big thank you to everyone who came along to the Open Day, it was a great day with lots of familiar faces as well as new ones too.  Thank you to all who made cake and helped with tea - it really was a lovely day.

Sewing Schools have been running since the Open Day with some great garments being made, from Sports Luxe Jackets & Duster Coats to Dresses and Trousers - here are just a few

Some of you may have met Frances Tobin from The Makers's Atelier at the Open Day - Frances creates beautiful patterns and I will be running workshops using these patterns later this month.  The workshops include the pattern and fabric and Frances includes a label, tape measure and bag to keep everything in.

You can see details of the workshops by clicking on the pictures below

You will also have seen the lovely Sue Cotten at the Open Day - Sue will be teaching some workshops at The Midhurst Sewing Room starting with a Teen Sewing School next Friday - students can choose to make a sleepover bed or an ipad stand using denim jeans, just £40 and a great way for teens to start sewing - more details here

I am busy getting ready to head up to Birmingham for the Festival of Quilts at the NEC - I will be teaching workshops on how to make a Gilet from quilted fabric, Essential Dressmaking Techniques, Zips and Machine Feet - if you are coming up to the Festival do come and say hello - I will be in the Acadamy on Saturday and Sunday.  For more information about this fantastic Exhibition click below

  • Sewing and Knitting

Things have been growing and changing recently, I have been doing a lot of dressmaking workshops and teaching at the Knitting & Stitching Shows  around the country.  I have been involved with The Great British Sewing Bee Book - From Stitch To Style - designing and making many of the garments as well as writing the instructions to go along with the patterns that are included with the book and, as well as all this, I have been writing features and making for new sewing magazine Craft Network Sewing

Because of all of this I have decided to add more sewing to the Claire's Yarn website including workshops and haberdashery.  Dressmaking workshops will be held at my Midhurst Sewing Room in West Sussex (lots of lovely places to stay nearby if you are not local)  I will also be running knitting and crochet workshops and will be adding them to the website soon.
The website has moved around but Knitting yarn, Patterns and books will still be available - in fact I have decided to have a
