News From The Midhurst Sewing Room

We are busy getting ready for our West Country Retreat at Dartington Hall in Totnes but I wanted to keep you up to date with what has been happening in Midhurst.

Welcome to all those who signed up to the Newsletter at The Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace - it was a really great show and it was lovely to meet so many fantastic people.  Thank you to everyone who visited Amy on our stand and who came and said hello to me in the workshop area.

At the Sewing Room the Dressmaker's Portfolio has started with 6 students working on their Hand Made Wardrobe and Couture Jackets are being made.  On workshops students have been making some lovely garments, including these fab pyjamas, dresses, cardigans, coats and jackets.

Since my last newsletter, as well as teaching at the show & in Midhurst, I also worked at Goodwood Revival.  This is a great weekend for those who love all things Vintage.  Held at the Goodwood Motor Circuit, there is a lot of historic cars racing but for me it is all about the costumes   I work for The Goodwood Actors Guild making, renovating and fitting costumes for the 200 actors who are on site for the event as well as helping with the big party on the Saturday night, the theme for the party this year was Grimms Fairy tales.  With my fabulous Dream Team of seamstresses we make as many costumes as possible before hand but it is always a busy weekend in wardrobe - here are just a few pictures

After the West Country Retreat I will be heading to Harrogate for the Knitting & Stitching Show - do come and say hello if you are visiting the show.  You can find more details and get tickets here

There are a couple of spaces on Workshops before the end of the year - make a dress in tricky fabric on the Soiree Dress weekend, a pair of Palazzo Pants in Velvet or spend an afternoon making Knickers - click on the pictures below for more details

In January you could start the year making Fitness Wear, a Classic Cardigan or even a Corset, learn to make the most of your Overlocker or learn lots of techniques on the Sample Portfolio workshops

Next years Retreats are filling up, there is ONE place left on The Brighton Sewing Retreat in March  The Maker's Atelier Retreat is FULLY BOOKED and only ONE place left on our New York Sewing Tour & Cruise.  We are very excited that the Couturier and teacher Kenneth D King will be coming along to talk to us while we are in New York.  We do have a couple of places left for the New York Tour only part of the trip, so if you would like to join us to get in touch
